For our founder Letishia, Hats on Country is a about celebration and connection, the continuation of the precious gift of art handed down by her late father. What began as a personal journey to honour his spirit has evolved into a meticulous craft, where traditional Aboriginal art meets the sophisticated silhouettes of premium fashion.
Finding balance is an art form in itself. As a dedicated registered nurse, my days are often defined by the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of healthcare. Hats on Country was born from a vital need to step away from that world—a space to "click off," ground myself, and reconnect with my culture through the familiar, rhythmic process of creation.
Drawing on the artistic traditions taught to me by my father, I began translating stories onto a new, sophisticated canvas. Every stroke of the flame is a deliberate act of mindfulness, transforming premium felt into bespoke pieces of wearable art. The meticulous nature of hand-burning requires patience and precision, turning a blank hat into a deeply personal statement piece.
